Protect Grover Beach

A community effort to preserve our town's unique character.

Why We Care

Grover Beach residents are working to place an initiative on the November 3, 2026 ballot that would limit commercial building heights to 40 feet, industrial buildings to 33 feet, and require at least 33% commercial space in mixed-use developments. Mixed-use developments combine residential and commercial uses in the same project. This initiative restores the community’s original vision of protecting Grover Beach’s beach-town character and preserving coastal views from public streets and scenic vistas. During the pandemic, the city increased allowable building heights to as much as 66 feet. This measure does not affect residential housing or affordable housing project heights. Approximately 1,000 signatures are needed to place the initiative on the ballot. For information on where to sign the petition or to learn more about the “No More Tall Buildings” initiative.
